A hundred years ago, China viewed all other states as "vassal states" meaning that they must view China as the Centre of the world, and must pledge allegiance to China. They also had to pay tribute to how great China was. This was obviously the natural state of things, as China was a large and powerful nation, and the others were small and weak.
Having been occupied by smaller and weaker nations for over a hundred years, this practice slipped into oblivion.
However, would you agree that China seems to be reviving this outdated mentality in the 21st century?
when they was powerful ? you mean in the age of Mongolian leader ?
Its unlikely that they would try. When Chinese people talk about China regaining its proper place in the world they usually leave out that their world pretty much only consisted of Southern China, Manchuria, Mongolia, the Korean Peninsula, Indo-China, Tibet and Japan. And while it may have dominated all of these other countries, it was never much more than a regional power to begin with. That said, they are starting to throw their weight around, and their neighbors are starting to dislike them for it. Say what you want about the US, but we aren't exactly badgering Canada into making territorial concessions.

Stop hurting the feelings of Denmark's people, you big bully!
Scandinavian:
I am pretty sure the right wording is "Stop hurting the feelings of the Danish people"

Our secret has been putting our worst cities along the boarder. It's hard to imagine the Flappy Heads ever wanting to storm into Detroit of Buffalo.
I doubt it. Last time they thought that they went to Europe to demand tribute and the Europeans decided to come to China and give it a smack down instead.

I thought that the way it went down was China told the UK that it would only trade tea for gold or silver, which the UK was using as its mineral reserve. The UK responded by selling incredibly large quantities of smack to the Chinese populous.

Well yeah.I findit funny how people, included themselves, think the Chinese are so devious, they have nothing on the white man.
