I love those chocolate cone type ones that have some sort of chocolate disk at the top. Otherwise, apart from one in yellow packaging that has a chocolate bar in the center, I can't think of any that have blown me away. I once bought a green cone assuming it was mint choc chip, turned out it was tea flavored. Also had a similar incident where I bought one that was green and it turned out to be frozen beans.
You must have enjoyed 'green beans ice cream'. I love 'green beans'. However, my father was a dentist, so I rarely eat ice cream! It is bad for your teeth, 'they' said.
Is that called 'inherited knowledge'?
I usually avoid the Chinese ice cream brands. I think the ice cream itself shows obvious signs of lacking dairy products. E.g. picking something from Nestle seems to be a better choice, even if produced locally.
The green bean ice as mentioned by icnif77, I will not get addicted to those, but worth trying
The part of the country I live in is this time of year so warm that attempts in eating ice cream, unless doing so in an air conditioned room, will always have to have the nature of a speed eating contest. So I do not eat as much ice cream as I should.
I stay away from many things in China cause I might get disappointed, no telling how old that ice cream is or how many times it thawed and refroze. Freezer Burn Ice Cream, yum
TedDBayer:
I did have a really good mango ice, but only once, the rest had more ice than mango. I found mango ice cream once, actually in Beijing, the only place I found that served ice cream cones and good ones. I think at Temple of Heaven.
google harbin huayi ice cream scandal. You will get a good idea of how icecream is made here.
Scandinavian:
that story is how any factory produced food is made in China. Zero inspection, Zero regard to peoples safety.
biodamon:
Agreed. You never know until you see the real producing scene in the factory.
i wish they could make durian ice cream like in the philippines but they would probably screw it up.
Scandinavian:
isn't durian ice cream screwed up no matter how it is made
I like the mango and peach flavored ice creams that come on a stick. Also, magnum bars (similar to a dove bar) are pretty good, although they're like 4-5 times more expensive (~7 rmb)
I prefer Dairy QUeen all day any day just as long as they turn it upside down. I don't mind eating the chinese icecream if the one's in the cones are actually a chinese brand. My favorite type of icecream is not from China but from Korea. It's called the shark icecream! Only sold in Korea I guess!
biodamon:
I do not think the package can tell you that it's from Korea as the ice-cream manufacturer outsource the package. That means other manufacturers simply need to change the package.
