Q: Chinese Medicine or Street Food?

Every time I try to follow my friend's mom's advice on what to eat to stay healthy in China, it totally backfires and I get major stomach issues.  I find that eating street food and "xiao chi" seem to calm my stomach down way more, any reasons why?

I bring 'Pepto Bismo', look for dry pre-packaged breads and crackers and try and find McDonalds with some regularity. Will NOT mess with Street Food or Chinese Medicine. No matter what - stomach issue of some kind will ensue.

TCM is mostly superstition but I eat street food all the time and never had a problem. Touch wood.

If you drink beer with your street food, you will be fine. Beer kills germs.

A:I'll give my two cents on the age part. It's not as easy but can definitely be done. I was 21, fresh out of university and landed my first teaching job in china as a homeroom kindergarten teacher on a pretty standard 20,000/month salary. I'm 1 year in now and am still happy. Pretty much all international kindergarten jobs on here want 2 years experience, but many will still accept if you have experience in your home country. With that being said, being white and having a nice looking face is much more of a decision factor in china vs the west, if you can- use it to your advantage. Good luck finding something! -- brinsleym
