Q: Chinese medicines you wouldn't leave this country without?

So far, I have on my list "Tiger balm" because it is the best muscle relaxer so far but what other "Chinese medicine" remedies, have you found are sometimes even better than the Western remedy. Anything for the cold, cough, eczema, etc?

Thanks!

I'm not sure. I like the green salve. Is that "Tiger balm?" It comes in the small jar and applies like "icy-hot." Wonderful stuff.

When I first went into a traditional Chinese medicine store, the ingrediants freaked me out. Dried bats, lizards, sea-horses, and of course, all the weeds and mushrooms. Being the fool that I am, I started playing around with the bats and sea-horses that were in trays on the counter. I got the "evil eye" pretty quick.

The attendent was not amuserd.

My mother-in-law has been a traditional Chinese medicine doctor for over 50 years. If someone (probably your wife/gf or their mother) suggests you need seahorse tea, you have some serious problems. :D

Before you judge someone walk a mile in their shoes, that way you're a mile away and you have their shoes!

You can buy Tiger Balm in the US.  Basically, any Chinese medicine that's remotely useful can be bought in the US already.  The only thing I do sometimes bring back are antibiotics, just becuase they are handy to have around and you can buy a lot of them here without a prescritption.

The massage... guess I'd try puting a little Chinese beauty in my carry-on when I go back so I can maintain my nights of going out for a massage without breaking the bank.
