Q: Chinese national visa to UK?

Hi there is anyone familiar for the requirements for a Chinese national to visit the UK for a holiday?  I know a lot go as group tours but is it easy enough for them to go by themselves.  Thanks

Hi steve - check out this website: www.visa4uk.fco.gov.com. That's our official government website where you can fill out the form online, print it off, and set up an appointment with the British embassy to hand everything in. I recently had to do this for my girlfriend - what they don't tell you on the website is all the extra stuff you need to bring to the embassy to assist your application. If you're traveling alone make sure you bring bank statements, housing certificates, payslips, a letter from your company saying you work there and have been granted time off, car ownership certificate, previous air tickets if you've been abroad before... basically anything you can think of that proves you're wealthy enough to take care of yourself over there and have a stable life in China to come back to. It's not too tricky to get as long you've got all the documents prepared. Oh and 1 more thing - if you've got friends in the UK get them to send a letter of invitation if they're willing to let you stay at their house.

Thxs for the info-  I am British and currently working in China so the visa is for my girlfriend who is Chinese.  Will have my family's address to put down on the form.

OwainLW:

Yeah get your parents to send a letter saying they're willing to take responsibility for her for from the dates she's in the UK, and also maybe get them to photocopy and send a copy of their most recent mortgage payment to prove they're UK house owners. As she's you're girlfriend - bring to the embassy photos of you two together and with friends, on travels with each other (if you've been), print outs of MSN/QQ/Skype conversations... all to prove you're a legit couple. Ridicolous I know but it will help - I had to do all of this, though once you've done it once it's not too bad, my gf and I keep a folder for all the stuff she needs for visas to developed countries so whenever we go we just get them all out again. Takes a bit of ahead planning but it's not too bad.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
