Q: Chinese New Years Performance...help

Hi everyone

My company wants me and my coworker to put on a New Year's Performance, but we have no idea what to do. Its going to be held at a restaurant with all of our staff. Any idea?

Thanks

Do a reading of Robert Burns poetry in full Scottish accent! They won't ask you again next year!

Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face,
Great chieftain o' the puddin-race!
Aboon them a' ye tak your place,
Painch, tripe, or thairm:
Weel are ye wordy of a grace
As lang's my arm.

The groaning trencher there ye fill,
Your hurdies like a distant hill,
Your pin wad help to mend a mill
In time o' need,
While thro' your pores the dews distil
Like amber bead.

His knife see rustic Labour dight,
An' cut ye up wi' ready slight,
Trenching your gushing entrails bright
Like onie ditch;
And then, O what a glorious sight,
Warm-reekin, rich!

Then, horn for horn, they strech an' strive:
Deil tak the hindmost! on they drive,
Till a' their weel-swall'd kytes belyve,
Are bent like drums;
Then auld Guidman, maist like to rive,
'Bethankit!' hums.

Is there that owre his French ragout
Or olio that wad staw a sow,
Or fricassee wad mak her spew
Wi' perfect sconner,
Looks down wi' sneering, scornfu' view
On sic a dinner?

Poor devil! see him owre his trash,
As feckless as a wither'd rash,
His spindle shank, a guid whip-lash,
His nieve a nit;
Thro' bluidy flood or field to dash,
O how unfit!

But mark the Rustic, haggis-fed,
The trembling earth resounds his tread.
Clap in his walie nieve a blade,
He'll make it whissle;
An' legs, an' arms, an' heads will sned,
Like taps o' thrissle.

Ye Pow'rs wha mak mankind your care,
And dish them out their bill o 'fare,
Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware
That jaups in luggies;
But, if ye wish her gratefu' prayer,
Gie her a Haggis!

I have been asked to do stuff like that, luckily they didnt push it when I told them no way.

This will be the Year of the Snake though, maybe you can work that into a comedy sketch?

Well I sung Houlai in Chinese and played my guitar. Not sure how good it was but I signed 5 autographs after the show and whenever I want to go anywhere the school sends a limo!!

Seriously, contact me and I will give you the pinyin, the English translation of the verse and the chords. Also the mp3 of it being sung - correctly. If you ask nicely I will send you an autographed photo of myself singing at the concert.

Tip: a glass or 5 of the local brew will make your voice sound better (to you).

Yeah, just be sure not to over indulge on the alcohol.  Two years ago, they waited until I was plastered before making me get up on stage to sing Karaoke to Billy Jean.  Pretty sure I was a measure late the whole song.  They still loved it though!

I always say No ,but once they still want me to be the host even I said No to them which's so annoying.after the show,I got  1000rmb for reward which's not too bad.

You can sing a nice English song or dance.I am sure they will like it.

Good luck.
