OK....what are you experiences with them?
Usually everything is cool, but granted I am usually with my gf.
Tonight I leave the bar at 3:00am and show him my hotel card. He says 20....I say no, point at the meter and say fa piao.
He grumbles and turns on the meter.
After we get there the bill is 10.80 plus 3 for gas fee. I give him a hunderd...he gives me 75 back.
I argrue with him for 10 freakin minutes using my iphone to translate. Finally after I refuse to leave the cab unless he gives me back 10 more...he caves...all while bitching.
I feel I won a major victory tonight....have any of you had similar experiences?
My experience was a little different
I was walking to the physio to get my shoulder fixed that is near the Bus depot
the first taxi driver drove up and asked me if I wanted to go to Mudanjaing
and I politely told him no
the next taxi turned up and asked the same thing
I again politely told this driver no thanks
he then asked again and I again told him no I was going to that building
for a third time he asks me and by this time ive got the shits big time and told him no I don't want to go then in English F@*K off back to Chinese DO YOU UNDERSTAND
he understood alright and drove off muttering something about the rude white monkey
and now I cant get a taxi in the whole city.wonder why
Twice in the past two days the driver knowingly tried to keep some of my change. This infuriates me as they know exactly what they are doing. Then, when they are called on it they act dumb. They are great at that!
Yeah, they try to keep extra money. I take their photo/license placard,,, it is sooooo funny how that really gets their attention.....
sometimes when I am in better mood I just take a photo of the photo/license placard. that's usually enough for them to play by the rules.

I did the same thing....snapped a photo of his name card and showed him the pic after. I think this is what finally made him cave.
Happened once taxi driver didnt want to follow the meter so i pulled down the meter then he started driving.
Usually I don't have issues. Maybe twice in three years. I find a good taxi driver can make your day though. You know, those times when you get a really funny, friendly guy.
Smaller cities and black taxis are notorious for this. Always carry somewhere around the exact fare for your taxi, saves a lot of hassle
