Q: Chinese words you find easy to remember?

Mine are mostly animals and swear words, don't seem to have many problems remembering those.

They symbol for Chicken because it looks like a chicken. Also I've gotten very familiar with water and person. The person character looks like legs walking and the water is sort of easy to remember because it's everywhere. Also, the word middle it's like a box or square with a line running through it. (Drunk!

He he, I said: "running"!

Regarding characters - the first two I learned were 中 and 人。 Saw them everywhere, on the sides of buses, billboards..I guess they're pretty simple characters.

Ai Yo!  Even back in the US, I use that almost daily.  My dog has learned to hide when he hears me say it.  :)

On my second day in China at Shanghai, knowing no Chinese except ni hao and zai jian I learnt to ask for

hua sheng (peanuts). I was hungry at the time.

and there's a bad joke about who is flower's mother? that I learnt later.

They do have many puns based on their innumerable homophones

Now my favourites are Na zenme ban (What are we going to do now?) and mei banfa (no solution)
