Q: Choosing a roommate - Chinese or foreigner?
Coming to China and will be renting an apartment with someone else. I'm not sure if I want to go with a Chinese or foreigner. I want to learn Chinese but I'm not sure how people function here for basic things and whether it would be less of a hassle to choose a roommate with the same mentality as me.
Anyone have any advice?
I had a Chinese roomate once. Nice enough guy but he'd walk around the apartment naked.

Having a Chinese or a foreigner roomate will depend a lot on how you are and your expectations, and also to some extent with the same of the roomate. If both of you enjoy the same type of things, and are the same way in respect to the many things involved in sharing an apartment, then I would suggest you go for it. But if privacy happens to be of importance to you, then you should rather try hard to survive alone.
I have had two, both on temporary arrangements, both were good friends, both of the opposite sex. One was for 3 months, the other for 40 days. Both Chinese. Even if we are still friends, I will not accept eithert back at my place again. Nor I want a foreigner either. The reasons are private, nothing to do with sex do, it was all a money matter
