Q: Cost of Z visa process

Hi everyone!

Can you guys give me the low down on how much these things will cost individually?

-Price of the actual Z visa in Hong Kong

-Price of the medical exam in China for the residence permit

-Price of the residence permit

I know employers usually pay for these things but in the event that I have to I would like to know the costs.

Thanks in advance!

You'll be required to complete Medical exam, before Z is granted. Cost around HK$2000 (1800 Rmb).

In some Provinces, you're required to complete another Medical exam in China. Cost is the most 500 Rmb.

I don't know for cost of Working permit and Invitation letter. Usually Co. in China supply that of no cost to applicant. In HK Embassy, you can pay fast (2 days) processing fee for HK$ 600, if I remember correct. 2 days processing fee is (was) listed on HK Embassy website.

Once, you're back in China with Z, Residence permit doesn't cost anything.

If the school doesn't pay for your RP at the PSB it'll cost you Y800 if you are an American and Y400 if you are British, others I don't know.

I'm afraid it's not that cheap as icniff77 says. Maybe he is right, but it depends. So far I know that the Z Visa is run by agents abd prices are far too high. Only 2000 hk for a price it sound too cheap to be true. I know this is possible only at the China Immigration Center, but I doubt they will do it. It's all just a business.

icnif77:

I paid around 2000 Rmb for Medical exam in Sep. 2012 in HK Hospital, which was the last thing I had to complete for Z. I returned to China 4 days after I got ME file signed and stamped by examining MD.

I've never used an Agency for Z!

School sent me all necessary docs., and I don't know how much it cost them to get Working permit, and other required docs. for Z in China, because I never paid anything back to School for that. I just worked for them.

Instead of relying on people here who are possibly misinformed check out www.visaforchina.org

Jacob.John mentions agents. If all your Z visa paperwork is in order then there is absolutely NO need to use an agent. I got mine through the visa centre in Manchester, UK. Cost was £66 & done in 4 days!

I had the full medical done in China (I was alread here on "business") & when I went for the visa they didn't even want to see it. AFAIK the medical was given in when I got the RP after coming back to China.

One other thing - it is very difficult to apply for the Z visa in HK as you are supposed to split in your home country but I think it can be done if your employer knows how (you'll need to check this yourself by contacting the Hong Kong visa centre).

ScotsAlan:

Spot on.

I got mine in Manchester too, but I think it was about 140 pounds UK. That was for 1 day service, as I had to fly there and fly back from another part of the UK. Fours overnights would have been too expensive compared to the airfare.

For the Manchester office I filled in an online application form and asked  for a specific day to apply. They only allow so many same day applications.

what icnif77 said is totally true.. of course, if you go with agent, the price will  be around hkd 800.

if you need agent to help you the whole process of employment permit, invitation letter, z visa, resident permit. it is like rmb 5000 . maybe lower or higher.

For Residence permit it is 400 RMB per year and for medical it depends how many test you are going through but at least it will cost you 200 RMB and can go up to 500 RMB.. for Z visa only the local embassy can give you accurate figure because it depends on the Nationality of the applying person also..

I had my medical done at the local hospital here in Hangzhou - cost was 420RMB.

Cost of my Z in HK last year was about $500HKD (no agent, all paperwork in order).

Cost of RP/Work permit for 6 months was... 800RMB?? I asked a HR person the other week when I had the medical done, and she said a figure close to that. And that's for an RP of 12 months, but you can get longer for more (but not a hell of a lot more... 1300RMB for 2 years, IIRC). I asked cos they only want to give me a 6 month, but I'm willing to take the cost if they give me one for longer!

I renewed twice my RP and i  paid only 400 RMB per year... you have to cross check..or you can ask for invoice from them to verify it..

Thanks for that Volta.

Could be vastly different prices, depending on city and province... that wouldn't surprise me, and it would actually make more sense. I'd expect a much higher price in, say, SH or BJ, than in Urumqi...

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer; 2. Employer applies for an Invitation letter; 3.
