Q: Cutest thing you've seen while teaching children?

There are these folks who own a delcious-but-cheap restaurant I always go to, and I sometimes help their grade 2 kid with his English homework because they're good folks and their restaurant is so great.

Anyway, yesterday he was doing an activity where he matched country flags with national symbols: Australia with a Kangaroo, China with a Panda, Canada with a Leaf, etc. He insisted that the American flag meant "England" because by process of elimination he matched it with an eagle and figured it was 鹰国. Too hilarious.

A little girl told the boy ladies first. They were taking turns doing something and the boy wanted to go first but the little girl insisted she would be.  It was translated to me by the Chinese teacher he thought it was cute and so did I.

There's a kid in one of my classes, his name is James. He wears round lense glasses, and his hair is really short, so he looks more like a short old man than a kid. He's always totally spaced out. Sometimes he raises his hand and stands up, even though he doesn't have any idea what I'm asking him to do. He always does it with a smile though. It always makes me laugh.

I am teaching 2 years olds simple commands: 'stand up', 'sit down', 'turn around', 'clap your hands', and 'give hug to each other'.

Chinese assistant translates every command to kids. I also show them meaning of each command with action.

I hug TA.

When I say:  'give hug to each other', 15 kids run toward me, and try to give me hug. Screaming, yelling, falling, and.............. cameras are rolling every time.

Apparently, It is impossible to translate 'each other'' to Chinese. hihihihi

I was teaching colors and I had the kids run around the room and identify the colors of different items. Then I sent them on a bathroom break. While standing outside the restroom I heard one of kids who was inside shouted out "YELLOW".

Had a six year old girl give me the finger once, that was kind of cute. Turned out she was showing me a sticker she'd put on her middle finger.
