Q: Dental braces and palate expanders rare here?

I've rarely seen people with these. Do Chinese naturally have very good teeth or are there other more common treatments?

seen a few with braces but a very rare sighting indeed. As for good teeth no way some of the worse teeth I have ever seen.

Think like all people who ever had braces (including me) i hated them and was embarrassed by them so could be the same thinking.

It might be an issue of money, or they just don't think teeth are that important. Some of these people may never have seen a dentist, or don't go unless there's a serious problem. I've seen a little kid, his baby teeth are completely rotted. I wonder if he's ever brushed his teeth. Is there even any dental health education? Some people do have good teeth, but many don't.

I do have seen a few persons with dental braces, but not too many.  As Jnusb416 said, many it is a cost issue.  What I did notice on the ones I saw is that they seem not to use metal for the braces and rings around each tooth, it looks like some sort of transparent plastic.

I also had braces for 8 years, and I do hate them.

Jnusb416:

I had braces for...2 years? I can't quite remember, but it was only the top row. My canines took too long to fall out, so the adult ones were going to come out too high, so I had braces to pull them down to the correct spots. At first it was only on 4 teeth, but after they were brought down, they put it on 3 more teeth to space them correctly, I guess. I hated it too. It hurt so bad when they tightened it that I couldn't eat anything solid. So my mom would make or buy me a peanut butter milkshake.

People here do not go and see a dentist until they need a tooth pulled out. I also think there is lots of people in the middleaged group that are missing a tooth.

Palate expanders is rare I think, but dental braces is much common. I do have some classmates and friends who had braces when they were between 8 and 13 years old, but true, some people do not see a dentist until they have a very bad tooth problem.
