Especially given its extreme violence and offensive content?

When I heard it had been banned I assumed it would have been because of all the violence. Who would have thought it was because of the scene where he has his giant Django out. I would have thought that would have been easy to cut out.
In many ways I see a movie like Django Unchained as harmless compared to e.g. the Hangover movies. Django takes place in a far far away mystical past, the Hangover movies does not. Despite Django containing lots of lethal violence, the fact that it takes place in this mystical world means people with zero imagination cannot translate the contents of the movie into their own situation. The stupid antics in the Hangover movies on the other hand, just required a 5kuai bottle of rice wine.
Has the Hangover movies been in cinemas in China?
Not surprising at all.
I'd expect SARFT to slowly accept more controversial content, not throw the doors wide open with a movie like Django.
it would be interesting to know who allowed the movie to start on time and who stopped it, the two of them are probably having some interesting ass kissing and covering ass going on right now. although torturing a naked man upside down with genitals showing might cause some problems given the single female shortage, eels are ok though.
I'm surprised Iron Man and GI Joe made it here. Although, they did say Iron Man in China will be a completely different version....that sucks!!! hahaha! Yes, I am a little bit surprised that Django made it here, but glad that it did!
