Q: Did any of you male laowais got your ass whooped by your Chinese gf/wife?

So, this is the story:

On the New Year's day I was leaving the office when my Chinese colleague approached me to wish a New Year. I couldn't help but ask him what had happened to his face since it had some cuts and bruises. Not only he had started work later on that day as he seemed to be a bit disturbed during the day.

When he told me what had happened I honestly felt like laughing but because that would seem disrespectful I made an effort not to do so -  it was hard, trust me. It seems that my colleague, which is 183 cm tall and has a big body structure -  a bit fat - was beaten up by his tiny cute adorable girlfriend, who I once met. I asked him: why did she do that to you? His answer was that the recent empowerment of Chinese women has led them to do such things, without being regarded as being wrong.

He then asked me, what would you do if your bf did that to you? I was surprised by his question, because were I come from the answer is clear, there is no way I would date an abusing bf.

Is it only the Chinese men allowing these aggressions or do laowais allow it too?

No, although she could, same size & strength as me. I would not generalize on one single case.

Never! We haven't ever had a serious fight in two years. But when we play around and wrestle, I'll admit, she's got moves!

My wife is much too docile, Years without even screaming, but my ex, wow she could get frisky.  Once just once she TRIED to slap me.  My king fu reflex got me out of the way. Pinned her to the wall and blew up in her face.  That scared the crap out of her and it never happened again.. 9 times out of 10 women like to test boundries, so although its not right, scaring the living shit out of them is enough for them to know where the boundries lie.

Make them think its a possiblilty hahahaha

I think he's a gentlemen and does not wanna hit his gf, so he just stood there and took it.   Chinese girls can be crazy sometimes.

Chinese women are a lot tougher than they look... I mean seriously... they had to put up with a ton of shit in 5000 years from Chinese men.

It is kind of funny though... because some Chinese women think that if they can smack around a Chinese guy it means they can take on all men... until they meet a foreigner and try the same thing haha. My wife was kind of a tomboy and could probably beat up a ton of Chinese men. She tries wrestling with me and sometimes gets a little rough.

I just laugh and hold her down and then she gets mad because she is used to kicking people's butt. I tell her "Welcome to the international league, your better up your game is you want to play here!". Just playing around.

I did see some women smacking Chinese guys in the streets as hard as they could and just stood there doing nothing. Then got smacked again..

Not only do these guys lose the respect of the woman, the people gawking but I can't imagine they would have any respect for themselves. I say smack her back or just walk away... don't just stand looking like a chump.

YES! I agree. Seen the same shit where I live. Have no respect..

I can't imagine so. I think the answer is in your question, that he felt his girlfriend could do such things "without being regarded as wrong."

Most of the board seem to be from the 'big 5' or Europe and any chick who thought she had the right to beat up her boyfriend in any of these places would certainly be regarded as wrong.

Poor guy, really!

I'm 80kg, she's less than 50kg (so she always like to inform me...).  She only gets to be king of the mountain when I decide to abdicate the throne surprise

My wife sometimes (playfully) try to wrestle me down or push me out of the way but she never able to move me an inch. That is until she starts biting me! What is it with chinese women and biting!?!?! Do any of your Chinese spouses bite you? Sometimes this is cute but most of the time it is annoying. I am thankful though that she believes it is wrong to lay a hand on me and I never would lay a hand on a woman. Actually my American ex -wife was much more abusive.

I don't know about "foreigners", but in the US, more men than women are the victims of domestic violence, and I have known men who were abused by wives or girlfriends.

I don't find getting beaten by a wife or girlfriend (or husband, or boyfriend) isn't really all that funny.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is 'Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by 1. Finding an employer; 2. Employer applies for an Invitation letter; 3. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
