I heard Hampson English got raided in Guangzhou. Not surprising because they are notorious for hiring full-time teachers and not getting them visas.
I'm wondering if any foreigners got arrested because of it.

You aren't from Canada. You aren't a native speaker.
Your English isn't terrible but it is rather awkward.
You seem intent on confirming that you are definitely a Canadian. Strange. You don't see other users try and qualify their comments by stating their country of origin.
If you search for Hampson English the results are pretty dire. Most reviews say they are a shonky language mill with questionable business practises who underpay and mistreat their foreign teaching employees.
There is usually one positive review on each of the review sites. It usually boasts how many branches Hampson has and how widespread it is. The reviewer's English isn't terrible but it is rather awkward. The reviewer also qualifies their comment by stating that they're from Canada. Strange.
If 99% of the reviews of Hampson English are anything to go by then anyone would be wise to steer clear of such establishments.
This is the "raiding" time of the year... in Guangzhou and all over China.
And I mean it seriously.
Every year, from mid-November until just before Spring Festival starts, suddenly, suddenly, there is an "urge" to clean house, to weed out all of the nasty laowai that have been festering around, etc. etc.
And if Hampson was truly raided, their management absolutely must not maintain the "proper" relations with the local PSB.
I guess it's also because of the quotas that the police have. And if the year ends when Chinese New Year begins then they only have until then to fill the quota for the year. They need to be able to say that they arrested/deported/caught/fined x amount of foreigners in a year.

Indeed Mr nzteaher80 hit the nail on the head. elainetravelgirl has pretty good english, maybe ielts 8.5 but as he said it is awkward and smacks of Chinese education. But good on her for doing so well.
Her style of "stealthvertising" also smacks of Chinese social media etiquette. ie: clumsily insert the company or product into a discussion saying wonderful things about it and how previous negative comments about it were a "misunderstanding" and it is all bunny rabbits, marshmallows and kittens nowadays.
My guess is elaine has studied in Canada, scored a passport and successfully transitioned as a haigui.

It is unfortunate for those who spend their time just judging others. Truth is out there. I'd rather spend my time being proactive in doing good work out there. For those who are serious about teaching, then look me up for serious work. I've been at one location for over 5 years and have many busy teachers who have also been teaching at our center from 2-7 years. And much, much too busy to be on forums, unfortunately. As for being Canadian, I don't need to prove but if you want to see the new plasticized birth certificate, then come see me. The long version too. ha

Wow! Almost a year later and you still won't let it go. Kudos for commitment. I hope your life is going swimmingly
