Q: Did coming to China make you euphoric?

On most far from home vacations I've been on, I'm home sick after 3 days. When I visited China I was on cloud 9. I'm pretty much a happy person. I  can make most people laugh and I laugh alot.
Remembering my trip to China, I wonder why I was so happy. I was like  triple X happy. The staff at my hotel thought I was drunk all the time because I was laughing all the time.( never drunk) I can't account for being so happy. I was spending money like a mad fool, didn't care. I had the time of my life. With a few exceptions, I really didn't do anything out of the ordinary. It was just the China air that got to me. Maybe the smog stimulated my edorphins, but I can't really acount for mood. So did coming to China have a strong emotional response from you and how long did it last? Like the commercial says " have a happy period"

in short yes
When Im in China I dont have the everyday stress as at home
I know all my bills are payed before I go and I leave the daily shit in Australia
It is cheaper and mentaly better for me in China
I han have a week and a bit in Aus or 5 weeks in China so there is no contest.
If i dont want to talk to anybody I just smile and say No abla
we go out to eat so we spend quality time with each other and in general
no big hassles
when we head back to Aus im kicking and screaming all the way to the airport
I know that will change when we make the move for good and I deal with China bussiness all the time
But the wife can handle the natives on the local front

I was horribly depressed for the first few months....thinking what the hell have I gotten myself into.
It started the moment I landed and smelled the stench of foul air.  Funny how I am used to that now.

TedDBayer:

I read something about the air in China. I forgot this, China does have it's own scent. After awhile I didn't notice it.

No, Chinese vacation and Chinese life are two different things.

You were happy because you were spending money like a mad fool.  If I spent money irresponsibly, I'd be happy for a little while too.

I was happy the first time, because I was on vacation. Euphoric? No.

No for me too.  Curious as all hell, yes.  I live to try new things and China has a seemingly never ending supply of new things for me to try.  Heck, even tonight held a first for me.  Always new surprises.  Most of the time I love it.

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
