Q: Did people worship the Imperial family in China as much as Britain worships the royal family?

British people are going a little gaga over Kate Middleton/Prince William/Baby George. They also ooh and awe over every single thing related to the Royal Family. Do you think this kind of hysteria existed in China too when there were Emperors?  (obviosuly on another scale because the internet and tabloid magazines weren't invented back then - but you know, comparatively speaking).

Most royal families claim to be descended from god or gods, or chosen by god(Drunk to rule the mere mortals, so they were worshipped as such.

People in the UK dont care that much about the royal family. I think the modern media just uses the same pictures and news reals so many times you are convinced people are obsessed with them.

I hate glossy magazines like OK and all that rubbish. I will burn them all tonight for GHOST night, instead of paper money!

Nothing to do with royalty. It is just modern tabloid hysteria stirred into a rage. Prince William is only held in high regard because he is Diana's son. Ironically, his father's bloodline is held in less esteem. There is also the same hysteria when a celebrity like Beckham has a child.

No, the hysteria needs modern media to exist.

That being said. Emperor Qi must have created some hysteria as he had workers killed if they looked at him when he went to inspect the construction of his tomb in Xi'an.

They try to make celebrities out of royals, I wish they'd stop, they aren't even photogenic. Years ago when I got a government job, I had to swear allegiance to the Queen, I did ask why and was told to just do it. What I actually said was not the proper words to the pledge.

If I was to admire a Royal family, it would be the Chinese, they knew how to live, 300 wives and a wet nurse, yeah baby.

I'm with mr sausage!  Errm that didn't come out how I meant it...  Anyway can I just refute the British people "going a little gaga over Kate Middleton/Prince William/Baby George"?  I personally couldn't care less.  The media big it up of course because they need to produce something but generally I find people from other countries (like the US or China) are more interested in the royal family than Brits are.  Visits to either of those countries usually involve people asking me about the royal family and princess diana (still!), whereas in the UK no one I know of has spoken a word about princess diana for years, and generally avoids all things royal.  There are always some exceptions of course.

Agreed.
