Nope, asinine, anonymous, trolls still exist on this site.
I could have answered this almost 12 months ago.
Last Hogmany (New Year), I resolved to get very drunk. That project was a spewtacular success .
Done
*I bought a ukulele and I very slowly progress, I think it was on the list.
Not done
* I told my wife we would spend Christmas in NZ, in a rented home with a garden, enjoying a barbecue. Nope.
Stiggs:
It's a shame about the 2nd one. A Christmas BBQ in New Zealand sounds great.
DrMonkey:
It's not all lost, we are very, very likely to celebrate Easter in our own garden, with barbecued lamb, it's the tradition in my home province ^^ And my home province was probably God's prototype for NZ: we got rugby as main sport, laid-back attitude, rolling hills and pristine nature, sheep, cows, great beaches and a funny accent.
No, don't even remember what they were but the resolutions I made were most likely stupid non-specific things like 'try to be a better person' or something.
It'll be different this time, I actually have something I want to do.
Some. I started work at a new and slightly better college after 3 years in the doldrums of a private "degree factory"; got rid of my insane clingy gf (eventually... Chinese women can be amazingly persistent); and kept to my exercise regime fairly well. But I didn't take the HSK and didn't go to Japan or Paris. 2015's another year...
More or less...
Improve my Chinese - check (but probably not as much as I should have)
Improve my Income - check
Go home for Christmas - nope (and I miss it so badly)
Buy an apartment in China - check (but what a pain that was... I don't suggest it.)
I would say if you are in a better position now than the year before, then you are doing alright.
Mostly.
Raise income. Check.
Get MrA home for a long family visit. Check.
Move to my favourite suburb. Check.
Get healthier. This is more difficult to assess, but I'd say I'm more than halfway there.
Drink less. Nup.
I didn't sit down and make what I'd called new year resolutions but I did have a good year:
Got married in April
Changed to a better job in September
Got my Mother to finally visit me in November
In general a good year.
What do I want in 2015?
Looking to buy an apartment somewhere near Guangzhou.
Help my wife to find a way to get rid of some of the stress of her business as its getting her down (successful but too much now for one person).
Improve my Chinese (I say this every year though!)
I'd say so, I smashed my savings goal by almost 50% and have been reasonably good about going to the gym. All in all a good year!
