We all know the Chinese way that "you have to have an apartment, car, unlimited cash, etc...." if you want to marry a Chinese woman.
So those who got married in China, did you have all these things?
Personally, I married a Chinese woman, thankfully her family weren't pushy that way so at the moment we rent a place until we decide whether to stay in China for the long haul or leave the country. I don't have a car, don't have so much money but we are happy together.
But I've got a few friends who wanted to get married but couldn't due to her parents biatching about money, apartments, material possessions...
Thoughts or personal experiences?
No I didn't. My wifes family never even mentioned it. But of course we had been living together with an integrated economy for years before getting married.
No, not yet. We're planning to buy an apartment later this year but that's after being a couple for 4 years (married for the last two years)
My wife is very independent and makes her own decisions in life. Her parents are lovely people and very welcoming even though the first time I met them was the day before we got married!
My Chinese wife and I bought an apartment in China for her to stay while she works on her business. It was a few years after we got married. When we first met, neither of us had much and neither did her family. But they were understanding and saw that we cared a lot for each other. Like Hotwater's wife, my wife is a strong minded individual as well. The best Chinese women (or people at all for that matter) are and seem to navigate themselves towards foreigners due to similar mindsets.
Later on, we both created careers we enjoyed and made a good amount of money doing it. We both started our own businesses. After that we bought an apartment in China, and I moved back to Canada to find a suitable location to start building up a presence here.
We did lend money to her family for her brother's wedding and to my family for various reasons. Many Chinese can be shallow and sometimes can only see what you have now... many can't see your potential or what you may become.
I was lucky to find my Chinese wife and that she had a family that didn't flood me with demands from the start.
I bought one in Huizhou, XiaChong. Beach apartment. Hopefully can sell it high or use it for a vacation house or retirement vacations. Wasn't too hard. Y589,000- Down payment Y130,000 = Y459,000 than monthly payments of Y2000.
But I don't recommend this IF you can't get your name on the Title! Now foreigners can buy a house as of last March 2016. But before I had to announce to the U.S embassy that I bought a house and do a ton of paper work to get my name on the title. But my name is safely on the title just incase of a divorce hahah.
