e.g. like telling a person that talking loud will cause testicle cancer, to keep them quiet ?
Can superstition be used for good and not just evil ?
Come to think of it, I have uttered the sentence "The bible says people who cut in line goes to hell" - seemed to work a little.
Brilliant. Or you could just double up with the whole face thing and make a Chinese-West superstition double whammy; "In England, littering, spitting and talking loudly will cause not only testicular cancer but also an immense loss of face." There's truth in the latter at least.
Scandinavian:
I think you would need to replace England with "I read that in Bla Bla Province......mustard...bigger breasts.....on Thursdays" to build a credible superstition.
i used to pay street fortune tellers to tell beautiful women, in search of love, to " walk down the street, and the foreign man they meet is their destined love"
"We don't push in at queues in the west because it will make our mother explode".
"Spitting and dropping food on the floor will make the earth fall from it's axis" (not superstition - that one's a proven scientific fact).
crimochina:
the first one would not stop them. many want their parents to leave this life fast so they would not have to be burdened by them
I have used western superstitions I'd never heard of until I made them up.
Scandinavian:
making up superstitions makes them as real as they will ever be
