Nice one mate, congratulations. I've tried my hand at writing before and while I enjoy it I just can't get into it after a day at work, it's one of those things I tell myself I'll try again properly if I ever end up in quarantine or laid up in hospital or something.

What genre is it? You didn't write a soppy romance novel did you?

philbravery:

Alternative history...back in 1918 there was a request by King George to rescue his cousin the Tsar of Russia...this is the story that never happened...the book is called Tsar and the main character is a bloke called Marcus Carra . There are more of his adventures on the way...it's on Amazon kindle but if you pm me your email ill send you it.

CHAPTER 1

LONDON CALLING

January 1918

The English Foreign Minister scurries out of Buckingham Palace as light rain starts to fall.

He has a bewildering look on his face and is mumbling to himself.

Minister

it’s just not possible, they are both mad, how do they expect me to go about it?

Arriving at his office he sits down at his desk where he takes a deep breath, opens up a draw, picks up a bottle of liquor and pours himself a glass. He takes a large gulp of the contents of the glass

Then puts down the now empty glass, he picks up a Pen and begins to writes on a letter pad, while bellowing for his aid.

Minister

 John!!

The Aid enters the office

John

Yes Sir?

Minister

John, I need you to make an appointment with that fellow …err, Smith -Cumming,

Commander Smith-Cumming from SIS (MI6) …as quick as you can old man.

At the SIS Head Quarters, Office of Commander Mansfield Smith-Cumming

The minister Earl Arthur James Balfour, explains to Commander Smith -Cumming the purpose of his visit.

Balfour

His Majesty, the King wants us to rescue …the Tsar of Russia …and his family of course.

Smith -Cumming gets up from his desk and walks towards the window to gaze out of it without speaking as Balfour continues

Balfour

King George and the Kaiser both feel a joint effort is required to perform the rescue.

Commander Smith -Cumming

I’m sorry that resources to comply with this request are to scarce on the European front, it simply can’t be done I’m afraid.

Balfour

I understand, however I doubt the King will.

The commander escorts the Secretary to the door and opens it, and walks Balfour out.

There are a group of Agents talking in the hallway when one Agent is overhead talking about the Silk road from China to Russia and how he will be returning to China in the coming Days.

Balfour turns to Smith-Cumming

Balfour

How are your resources in the Asian Theatre?

The Commander interjects the Agents conversation and invites the China based Agent to his office.

Commander Smith-Cumming

Mr Turner, would you mind joining us in my office

The three of them return to the Commanders office and close the Door.

Commander Smith-Cumming

Capt. Turner, in your opinion would it be possible for a small party of men to go from China to Russia without support from the outside?

Turner

That would depend on a number of things Sir, what did you have in mind?

Balfour

Let’s say we wanted to spirit away 10 people from the middle of Russia …could you do it?

Turner

I couldn’t, But I know just the man that could.

Smith-Cumming and Balfour are both intrigued to know more about Turners friend

Commander Smith - Cumming

Go on

Turner

There are a group of Australians in Tianjin that operate a security service for caravans that travel the silk road.

They came to China at the end of the Boer War and set up shop.

Actually, they are very well supplied, trained, and they know the way.

Commander Smith – Cumming

Tell me more about this Australian Fellow

Turner

Marcus Carra, former Captain in the Australian Light Horse.

As I said he served in Africa until 1902 and set up Shop in Tianjin about 15 years ago

He has about 50 men in his employment, over half are Australian and New Zealanders, the rest are local Chinese.

 Balfour

How can we interest this Capt. Carra in this expedition?

Turner

Oh, I’m sure he will name his price Sir.

Smith – Cumming

That will be all for now

Turner

Yes sir

Turner starts to open the door and leave

Commander Smith – Cumming

Oh Turner …Don’t go too far away, that’s a good chap

Turner nods his head in acceptance of the order.

After Turner leaves Commander Smith – Cumming hands a glass of whisky to Balfour and asks the Minister

 Commander Smith – Cumming

Well what do you think?

Balfour

A small group of rowdy Australian civilians causing trouble in Russia with no connection to the Empire. and if it goes pair shaped, we can put it back on the Australians

Plausible deniability old boy, Plausible Deniability, what more could we ask for?

Commander Smith – Cumming

For some reason I feel like I’ve heard of this Carra fellow before, can’t put my finger on it,

Nevermind… you did say the King wanted a joint force?

Balfour

Yes yes …There are Plenty of German Prisoners in China we can enlist one or two of them and we send a couple of our own people along to oversee this little adventure.

What possibly could go wrong?

A few years ago, I developed a textbook which I use in my classes. I have not gotten it published, as I am still working the kinks out of it. As I teach from it, I continuously find new and better ways of developing the book. The writing book is intended for Chinese students versus western students since they learn differently. Perhaps I will publish it one day, but for now, it is just gratifying to know I did it.

Answer of the DayMORE >>
A: In my personal experience, teaching certificates have varied in releva
A:In my personal experience, teaching certificates have varied in relevance depending on the context and location. Here's a breakdown of each aspect:a) Getting the teaching job: Teaching certificates can certainly enhance your chances of securing a teaching position, especially in formal educational settings such as schools and language institutions. Many employers prefer candidates who have undergone specific training in pedagogy and instructional techniques, which these certificates often provide. However, other factors such as experience, references, and the demand for teachers in a particular area also play significant roles in the hiring process.b) Getting a higher salary than your uncertified competitors: In some cases, holding a teaching certificate can indeed lead to a higher salary compared to uncertified competitors. Many educational institutions have structured salary scales that take into account factors such as level of education, years of experience, and additional certifications. Holding a teaching certificate may place you in a higher salary bracket or make you eligible for certain salary incentives or bonuses. However, this can vary widely depending on the specific policies of the institution or organization.c) Getting promotions: Teaching certificates can be beneficial for career advancement and securing promotions within the field of education. They demonstrate a commitment to professional development and mastery of teaching skills, which are qualities that many employers value when considering candidates for leadership positions or administrative roles. Additionally, some promotions may require specific certifications or qualifications, making holding a teaching certificate essential for advancement in certain cases.Regarding which certificate yields better results, it largely depends on the specific requirements of the job market and the educational context in which you intend to work. For example:A Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) is often highly regarded in formal school settings and can be advantageous for those seeking positions in primary or secondary education.Montessori certification is valuable for individuals interested in working in Montessori schools or implementing Montessori principles in their teaching approach.A Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate is particularly relevant for those seeking to teach English to non-native speakers in international contexts or language schools.Ultimately, the best certificate for you will depend on your career goals, the specific requirements of the positions you're interested in, and the preferences of potential employers in your target job market. It's essential to research the requirements and preferences of employers in your desired field and tailor your qualifications accordingly. -- ruqaiya761
