Q: A direct answer please?
I love my Chinese roommate, but I wish she could just tell me at times if she likes or doesn't like something. It takes me forever to figure it out, and I usually have to ask 3 times or so. How do you deal with indirectness with your Chinese friends?
Oh, trust me, if your Chinese roomie really does not like something you will know, the shouting may alert you.

Your roommate is a 'high context' communicator. In HC the speaker is not expected to convey a clear meaning, rather the listener must figure out what the speaker wants to say. This is annoying as hell. Sorry you are in this situation. I think she is playing with you. Certainly she can tell you what is wrong but she wants to keep you guessing.
Annoying. I would get away from this clown as she probably has other similar annoying psychological conundrums planned for you simply for her amusement. They think it means they're smart but it only proves they are bullies.
Her complaint is probably some meaningless bullshit anyway.
Sorry Chinese people, all this 'guess what I mean!' communication only angers people. Save it for your relatives.

Sometimes that's the same thing! But you won't find *****es in any glossary. 
In diplomacy stage, everyone plays some tricks. When my child ask me to do something hard to reach, I tell me go for his mammy. And she use the same way too pointing to some else.although we all have our crosses to bear, we don't want to take extra burden beyond we can endure. Maybe your roommate just want to relax herself and don't offend you or anyone else.
