Q: Do advance appointments guarantee a number at a Chinese hospital?
I noticed that many hospitals are now offering advance appointment (预约挂号) services on their websites. But are these a guarantee that a doctor will see you or do you still have to go to the hospital at the break of dawn to stand in line with scores of others?

If you set up an appointment and your there around the time your supposed to be there and your not late than you should have no problem with waiting in line for long.
In my experience just because you have an appointment doesn't mean the other party will ever show up. Having said that, I hope this new service you are talking about is going to work the way they have planned it. However, I wouldn't put money on it just yet.
I didn't know China had any organization involved in anything, it's kind of the disgust I hate about China, and even part of it's charm
