In an effort to cater to the domestic clientele, do most Western companies change their products in order to appeal to Chinese tastes? I'm thinkin of tea'flavored frappuccinos, the awful stuff they sell at McDonalds', even famous clothes stores...
Do identical products as those sold in Europe and the States simply not sell as well?

Chinese-ize is not a real thing business means selling a product what sells what does not does not. Menus are different every were you go. You are Lucy they serve meat at McDonalds in India all veggie. They sell what sell what makes money they are a business you think they prefer selling western crap in western countries. you sell you make money that is business. So yes they try to sell to Chinese people the same way the sell to Americans. you think the mcrib is real food.
Of course they cater to the local market.
But the worst is when they sell their inferior crap here in China because of the lack of regulations, saving the good stuff for overseas.
I bought a medium sized luggage bag in a large department store....was destroyed 2 days later on a flight....it's all about quality.

On the other hand, if they sold the same quality goods as in the West, it would price them out of the average Chinese budget. This should change as China people become more wealthy.
It's all about marketing and appealing to taste. Doesn't matter what the product is it has to appeal to the people in any demographical area
