Q: Do Chinese celebrate Halloween?

Is there a halloween equivalent in China? What is their impression of foreigners dressing up in scary/sexy costumes and going around drinking and being wild? Do they do it too? More importantly, is it safe?

Maybe the Chinese users or expats who've been her awhile can help answer this question.

They are more familiar with Halloween than any other western holiday in my experience. However, their experience of it is quite different, and they don't go 'trick or treating'.

Most English schools have Halloween parties, and they really get into it with haunted 'rooms', costumes, and candy. More of an PG rating compared to the craziness that goes on in western countries.

i got a few friends who are bar owner and they always throw a party, but bars all across the country will have some sort of Halloween theme, not that everyone will come out in costumes

I hope not, just another marketing ploy invented somewhere in the west to con people out of their money.

At a large supermarket, their section for Halloween was 2 or 3 shelves of some weird Chinese candy, and some stickers and Halloween tee's.  That tells it all how little people care about Halloween around here.

Everyone seems to know the holiday, but it doesn't have anywhere close to the popularity it does in the West.  It's considered a small child's holiday, nothing teens or adults would enjoy.  They know in America you get candy by walking door to door, but they don't do any of that here, and never dress in costumes.

Yes it's known and celebrated. But certainly not like in western countries. It;s not likely youll see kids trick or treating.

Last halloween I went to a big amusement park in Beijing and it was decked out ina  halloween theme with everyone in customs and dance preformances of zombies and haunted houses etc etc.  So it's celebrated just not as much as in western countries.

Like someone else said, I think it's the largest western holiday that's known/celebrated in China. Christmas is pretty close though, even though most people don't celebrate Christmas like we do in western countries you'll atleast see decorations EVERYWHERE.

As far bars....bars seem to find any reason for a good promotion, so yes it's certainly celebrated and there will be no shortages of costume parties and drink specials on haloween. at most bars, especially in ones that cater to foreigners.

On a side note i remember last year reading an article about a foreigner who lives in China and he went to a custom shop in China and on one of the packages for the customs it was a picture of his daughter.  This happened without his permission or knowledge of course.

He ended up complaining and the company ended up just cutting holes in the package where the  childs face use to be haha.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
