Q: Do Chinese have ADD?

I use my phone translator always, people will type in Chinese on their phone and show it to me. I have to tell them I can not read Chinese, send me this as a text, sometimes this takes awhile. So they text me and I translate it. Then they will again show me Chinese text on their phone and I have to explain it again, Then happens each time they answer plus I give them my phone number each time. Whats with  this,, ADD?

I don't think they have ADD. I think they have a severe case of selective hearing. Or maybe they don't listen to you to begin with. I have this problem all the time. no

cooter:

I think this is very true.  I also think they are mostly focused on what's important to them at the time....not so worried what's outside their immediate little sphere of influence (pretty tiny).

Not just with writing, but speaking as well! How many times do I need to say "wo bu hui zhongwen' before they take the hint????

yesterday, in a restaurant, I said it a few times (well, ok, 'wode zhongwen bu hao').. so this girl writes it down... would've possibly been ok if it was in pinyin.. but no - in hanzi!!!

cooter:

You mean they don't use Chinese characters outside of China?  What a messed up place it must be out there!
