NO IDEA...BUT MY OPINION IS THAT AMERICAN CULTURE HAS A GREAT INFLUENCE AROUND THE WORLD ESPECIALLY IN ASIA SO IT WOULD NOT SURPRISE IF THEY DID....................

I know they have a fairytale image of Paris. That it is really romantic, no idea that French people could possibly be the slightest bit rude.

I think, perhaps, if not a fairy tale image, certainly a generalized one based upon American movies and T.V. shows. This can lead to many misconceptions (both good and bad) about the people and the country. Many Chinese believe that American is one, giant, monolithic culture. It is not. Yes, there is an American culture (which is more or less a mindset), but within that framework, there are at least six identifiable sub-cultures, primarily defined by geography. Income plays a role here, also, as does education.

But...money doesn't grow on trees. The sidewalks are not paved with gold. Milk and honey does not flow in place of rivers.

Yet, for the average Chinese, American is still the "promised land." If they could just get there, everything will be okay, and for many who do make it, when they apply hard work, frugality, and see the opportunities available, they do make it! One thing to still be said about the U.S. is; if you do those things (hard work, spend wisely, and take advantage of opportunity), you can have a very good life.

That being said, it is not only the Chinese, but many people have misconceptions about other places, which is one reason why traveling is such a great way to broaden ones perspective and understanding of the world.

Least I am  not,I am around some Americans,how come?But surly lots of chinese people are,especially many people from middle,west,north of china.They mostly think Americans are rich,but not every American is not that rich,I was hanging out with some Americans,I dont see they are rich.

And most chinese think Americans are very open and easy to have sexy,that is ridiculous.
And they think American guys are not reliable,chinese men are better,very funny of their mind.Which I just listen to have fun.
Even I tell them Americans are not like that,most of them wont believe in me.They believe in what they get kown from media,books and other chinese people's mouthes.
But in their eyes,America is a fairy tale land,many people want to go to US.They dont relise china is a country has more job apportunities cause China is in the industrial period which most western countries have gone to the advanced one.
Most chinese people just listen,wont think about what they have been told.which makes them to be narrow.

America, as much as I know about, is an either can be pretty or can be ugly country , just like any country else. some find it a land of dreams, others find it a  land of hell. It all depends on what experiences you have with it. But to the facts, it is a beautiful country with an enthusiasm of individual heroism,a people who do not think a second to stand out for what is right. Most of Americans in my experiences , have no intention of reconciliation between two sheer opposite opinions,  which impresses one that they might lack skills of holding moderation, to me they just think that is the way it is. Some Americans I encounter are charity-minded even though they just made barely enough to make a living, they also give away what they have for their own need, even it is not  their extra.

Hardships are everywhere , they shouldn't be  excluded in America. So it is  not a fairy tale land like some Asians might imagine, but I love its beautiful greenness , freeness and straightforwardness which makes it one of the fairy lands to me.

It's just like we had a picture of US during cold war... (We - from Poland).
