Q: Do Chinese immigrants to the US weigh the cons?
Such as the fact that they will have to pay taxes to the US government, even if they reside in China.
Do they consider this or do they plan on cheating the tax office as well?
I am especially looking at those wealthy Chinese.
They seem to believe that the grass is greener than green in Western countries.
This is an interesting question. I'd say most Chinese have a pretty unrealistically positive view of the states aside from the hysterical paranoia about guns. I've heard numerous Chinese make statements along the lines of "Everyone in America is rich" or "The government will buy you a house if you're poor." Chinese generally believe hands down that America and anything coming from it are altogether superior to China. They often have no idea about the costs of taxes, utilities, rent, healthcare, groceries and other daily living expenses. That being said, these are of little concern to the super rich. A lot of Chinese are willing to pay educational consultants in China tens of thousands of rmb plus to try and give their kids a chance to pay those taxes and expenses some day. As ambivalentmace said, the taxes in America are on income and not on accumulated wealth. So if you show up to America with 10 million plus rmb in the bank, that money won't be touched (only the income earned from interest and investments). So if you're rich like that, higher utilities and grocery bills won't be much of a concern. These people would LOVE to have the chance to pay those taxes and enjoy the superior environment, education and society.
The one's I feel bad for are the middle class Chinese who sacrifice everything to try and send their kids abroad. Life is not easy for these people - the additional living costs can really bite and these people don't have the connections and wealth to find opportunities so easily. For some of these people, going to America might not be such a great idea.
In my opinion, lower to middle income people can often live much better in China than they can in America. However, for the super rich I see no reason to put up with the BS of China. Why not pay a little more when money is no object?

I would say its unrealistic, but over the long haul, after maybe a generation or two, they do do very well. Better than average on aggregate. The median income for an East Asian house hold is $65K. The median income on average? $51K.

I was speaking Chinese at the time. I was sending some clothes to friends in Nepal . They thought that was funny. I informed them that's why foreigners don't want to help Chinese people when bad things happen here.

I mean, they do need to speak English...but they also bubble community pretty hard so it isn't necessarily an impediment to getting a job, finding an apartment, going to the store, or other things of that nature. Once bills come in or they have to do something outside of their Mandarin or Cantonese speaking neighborhood its a different story.

Recently, a young Chinese couple got severely injured in Cali. Chinese internet users got flabbergasted when they were told, since the couple weren't insured, they have to pay one million + RMB in hospital bill. Though some comments made by Chinese who lived in the US before didn't exactly exhibit any astonishment, many comments went on like "Is this another wumao propaganda? Doesn't America have 100% free health care?"
It is ironic and sad at the same time

money earned before they get to america, no tax except capital gains which would not get reported to the irs until they have a tax id number or social security number, also tax breaks for investing in america also apply for 3 to 5 years depending on the investment and amount. keeping your asian investments under your name on a different passport could easily get your out of paying taxes or setting it up as a trust or limited partnership paying dividends under other family members names.
most chinese businesses in america only take cash to under report sales taxes and payroll taxes, they cheat on taxes, no matter what country they live in if they find a way that works, very common. flushing new york chinatown has many cash only businesses and cash only workers as well.
Actually, one of the places that I work at a non-profit for immigrants on the North Side of Chicago. We do things like teach them English, help them pay their bills, find work, help them become citizens if they want, help them apply for benefits, and community organize--usually this just means getting them to vote. Anyway, we've had a few Chinese since I've been there. They're mostly older, working class types that want to improve their English. They seem ok. Most came for their children believing that they would have a better opportunity to succeed. They aren't wrong. Upward mobility isn't really as much of a problem for them. Some of them are here with grand children. They let their pension swell their bank accounts in China, go back for a few months during the winter, and then transfer or carry the money to the US in the Spring.
My wife works with some of the Upper class types. The rule for them seem to be that if you're coming with money, you're coming with a lot of other advantages too, like language skills, and an education. It's not hard for them to get pretty good jobs. Big houses. Lots of kids. Expensive cars that they wreck. etc...

I wasn't dropped, buTT...once they tried to teach me how to ski. I went downhill, and fell on the bottom. While I was turning around in the snow, my own
ski (tied with safety string to my shoe) hit me across my forehead. I had some stitches, and 25Y later still have some 4cm visible scar, however my IQ didn't change much.

actually if you dont have money in california or insurance even if u arnt a citizen u can apply for free food free housing free medical just like all the mexicans do do in cali the stae will pick up the medical and the feds will pick up the food and housing if u make it to cali so if the chinese that got the million rmb bill from the hopitol and couldnt pay they could apply to the state remmember there democrates and there mantra to legals and illigals is free free free someone else will pay lol
