Treat classical music in China the exact same as a fine red wine in China. The average person has never really be told about it, much less actually experienced it. Many I've talked to see wine and classical music as being baijiu and proud sounds of Mao's Red Army. But our crazy understand of classical music is growing in popularity among the richer as a way to look more cultured and fancy.

Yes, I think Chinese people appreciate classic music. We can refere to the ancient ideology raised by Confucius. It emphasises" 礼乐射,御书数", i.e. Courtesy, music, shooting, driving, literature and mathimatics. According to it, music rank 2nd among the most important 6 aspects that a civilized people is supposed to learn. But nowadays, very few Chinese have been exposed ito music. So we appreciate but don't know much about it. We are striving to make a living, It's very luxurious to enjoy classic music.
