Funny Chinese tattoo story: Before I came to China, I was living in Los Angeles where I met my wife. On one of our first dates I took her to Santa Monica pier at night for dinner and people watching.
As we walked down the street my wife noticed a tall, very muscular guy in front of us and she started to laugh so hard that she had trouble breathing.
When she finally calmed down I asked her what was so funny. She said the guy had Chinese characters tattoo'd on his leg. The translation was "Stupid foreigner".
I wanted to ask the guy if he knew what it meant, but I didn't know what I would say if he said that it meant something like "Bravery. Strength."etc...
Yes, of course. To English speakers, Chinese writing is cool, and vice versa. I've seen several people with English words tattooed on their body.
I had them get "Ted was Here" on their butts and told them it was a good luck saying.
