Chinese walk slow so maybe less strain on the joints. I see Chinese squatting all the time. I know this is hard on knees. Many NA develop arthritis in the knees, do Chinese? I have it. Forget squat toilets.

My mother-in-law has bad knees. She has a little stand that she places over her squat toilet. (Which she insisted on having when we designed the house.)
my mother-in-law is 78 and goes dancing 3/4 times a week and rides a bike and and does a lot of things that |I don't or won't ............. I won't squat to sh*t ....... she does I assume. they have developed muscles many of us don't have.read something about that ......

we have those muscles, we just dont use them much.
When I realized I was going to be living in China, one of my friends advised me to squat every day for ten seconds and gradually bring it up to a minute. I am glad I took his advice, since not always have I had access to a Western toilet!
Many Chinese snack on chicken feet and eat foods with cooked bones. Those foods probably have a lot of stuff good for their joints.
It's called old age and arthritis....it's natural that people get bad knees so yes....geez dude I know you want points and all or you want to make it seem that way!
TedDBayer:
if i wanted points like you I would answer every single post like you, What do you need points for, I can send you flashlights, or do Chinese get to ask for a ''get out of institution pass''
Actually it's the opposite. All the squatting is good for stretching the legs and ligaments in the joints. Squat toilets are also more healthy than Western toilets because they cause less strain on your bowels which makes it less likely for you to burst a blood vessel or have a hemorrhoid when you're fighting with a stubborn shit.
I see many people who suffer from joint issues with the parts of the body used for walking. Lower back problems can be spotted especially by seeing how people handle walking down steps. If they are twisting they legs and body during this, it is likely going to end up with a slipped disc or similar.
Wearing flip flops all the time will damage the spine and the joints.
Superstition about e.g. "walking and running will hurt your knees" makes no sense. I actually had someone ask me as I was stretching after a run, if I had hurt my knees since I was doing that (standing on one leg, lifting one foot to the buttock area to stretch thigh muscles)
