Q: Do Christians in China have to pay money to the church?
In some countries there is a mandatory fee that you have to pay to the church each year. I guess it's used for maintenance of the church, the priest's salary etc. Do Christian people in China also have to pay to be members of a church here? How does that work?
Yes, it's really a good business to be a priest. One here in town almost succeeded in persuading my mother in law to pay him 10% of her income. It then turned out he wasn't actually a man of the cloth.
The bible does not dictate to pay "tithes" but recommends. A priest that tells you otherwise is a golddigger.

No idea, I couldn't care less about Christians, but I would like to know what your average Christian in China makes of all the 666's dotted around. If you look you'll find they're everywhere. It's because 'liu' can also be considered a wish for a smooth life. Just a matter of time before some Christian funda'mentalist' decides it's A SIGN!!!!! that China is IN LEAGUE WITH SATANNN!!!!!

As far as I know I've never heard of any church that makes it mandatory to give money every year or every week. Thus I wouldn't think that Chinese churches in general would follow that practice but churches are all in different financial situations so who knows about particular ones.

In Germany you have to pay to be a church member. I'm not a member so I don't know how much it is exactly.
Considering the state is the head of the church in China, and not the Vatican, I would bet money that people must pay.
Pay money to a brothel instead - they show you the love of god.
It depends on the branch of Christianity.
The one I belong to, they pass a collection plate. Those who want to pay, do so and as much or as little as they want. Those who dont want to, dont pay and no one says anything nor are they even looked at "bad".
Even Christian religions that "tithe" (where the person gives 10% of their salary) it is usually a suggestion, not mandatory.
