Did you ever go into a McDonalds or some coffee ship to eat lunch or dinner and you cannot find a place to sit because some student or teacher will be using the space to teach an English class or just surf the net on the free Wi-Fi for hours while you want to actually buy and eat a meal? What do you do? McDonald's thought they solved the problem by limited their wi-fi access to 30 minutes but then the time expires, the kids switch from using their lap top to using their mobile phones to get another 30 minutes of space that other people need to eat. I think this is so fuc*ing rude and selfish.
First, I never ever go to McD, unless there's free Wifi, like for example in Pompano Beach, Fl .
Why 'selfish'?
Joint enjoys tax discount, when I'm interneting there. However, they must pay full tax, when they serve you grilled chicken feet.
I usually first look for electrical plug, before I sit down. Remember, you can stay in joint for ages, if you have (free) electrical supply.
When I'm connected, next I get bottle of the water out of my bag.
Then, my all attention is centered to the standing 'chicken feet people'..... How's your mood today?Go get some sunflower seeds.....I know, that's birds food, but TIC, so eat it, and zipzap...
What I don't like about this questions is that it takes a China problem and boils it down to a foreigner problem. The vast vast majority of the people freeloading at mcdonalds are old local people using the free A/C and heat and letting little kids run around and pretend it's their living room. All why not buying anything.
Yeah...I don't approve of someone using mcdonalds as a classroom while nobody buys anything, but i've never actually seen anyone do that.
What's wrong with you?
Wait, you mean some people actually EAT inside McDonald's?
At least those people are usually silent, and don't turn the table into a landfill. Contrast this with old folks bringing their grand-children, leaving the kids completely unhinged, and covering the table of chicken bones, seeds, greasy papers... Not, like, trying to put that in a paper and then fold the paper to quickly clean the mess. I don't go Mc Do, I go to my secrets little coffee shops, problem solved.
I agree with Dr. Monkey. Mickey Ds is a place I avoid. I also like to eat in quiet places wiyhou music playing and people talking so loud. I have become a coffee shop guy.
Preventing people from eating McDonald's food should be considered a public service.
Has anyone ever seen an expat in McDs who was just sitting there without buying anything? Or using McD as a classroom? As noisy as McD is? Expat is dead on, the aim of this post is to take something Chinese do and make it seem as if expats are the guilty culprits. "students and teachers" , you are full of shit. Go find the CFTU to save the day.
DrMonkey:
And considering foreigners are 0.01% of the population with English teachers being just a small fraction of that already small fraction... English teachers being a common annoyance is statistically very unlikely.
expatlife26:
yeah I always say expats are just a drop in the bucket here. Like Dr. Monkey said theres simply just not enough of us to really move the needle on freeloading.
This guy sure does post a lot ........... wish he'd tone it down.........

I dream all night, buTT...in the morning, I never remember anything. It looks, he/she memorizes his/her whole 'night life'
I often 'freeload' at Starbucks; meaning that I buy a single drink and then stay all day. It's the only place here almost exactly the same as home. So I practically live there.
No, but there's always tables full of Chinese people v e r y slowly eating fries while they weixin. Fortunately the fries don't last forever but the people stay anyway.
Then there's the old people who buy nothing but stay forever. Never seen any English lessons at McDs or KFC.
Nice try, though. Good to see your true colors.
