Q: Do fruit and vegetable vendors have the same suppliers?
In my place, on the same street there are maybe 5 different fruit and vegetable vendors, and oddly, they have different prices. Maybe that's because I'm a foreigner, and some try to rip me off more than others. But do these vendors all have different suppliers? How does it work, exactly?
the vendors you find outside, many of them are farmers and they have got small land for pillowing and agriculture purpose by paying tax to government and share as well. many of them have different suppliers. if you are buying things in Walmart, rt mart, Tesco, or other big shopping area it is definitely expensive just because they have to pay high rents, salary, electricity bill and many many of the things just for running the place.
outside with vendor he just have to earn 3 or 4 yuan maxmium what ever you are buying from him. he has just invest little money in that process so he is not going to sell it at gold price outside on street.
Freedom of creating prices is one of the basis of free market, so where is the problem?
In every country I was in - price may differ between vendors standing even side by side :)
For me - it's perfectly normal.
It's Your choice to select the vendor.
