Q: Do households in China not receive mail?
I have not once received mail in China. I have a letterbox but no key. I've told my landlord that I need a key several times but she just doesn't ever give it to me. I get the impression that physical mail just isn't a big thing here, since banks don't send you personal bank statements or anything for that matter and bills seem to be paid when the meter runs low or you suddenly find yourself in a dark flat with no electricity or running water.
Yet, you see China Post vehicles all over the place. Most doors don't even have letter boxes. Think that says it all. Amazon must have a nightmare here.

many countries including Hong Kong will not sell if you are staying in China. I just ordered something sent Priority mail with signature, its been delieved. I want to see the signature. I'll beat its Chinese.
I faced the same situation, my landlord had many other things to do and did not find time to give me the key. So, one day I got up on the wrong side of the bed, went to a nearby locksmith, and he came to my building, opened the mailbox with a screwdriver instead of a key, and replaced the lock. It cost me 15 Rmb for the lock, and 30 for labor. I have both keys now, and when I leave I will take the lock with me, it is held in place by one nut only.
And yes, they do deliver mail at home, the electric bill, many ads, shopping specials, letters from home, etc.
