Q: Do I need a release letter if I'm no longer in china ?

My contract ended at the beginning of November 2013 and I returned to the UK! I'm now in the process of  looking for a new job but during an interview I was asked for my release letter etc! Is This necessary as I have no current visa or fec? It isn't as if I'm changing jobs in China so why are they asking for these documents?

It is 'necessary', if new School (in China) is asking you for RL.

1. New School will need RL for new Working permit application. 2. RL will assure School, you won't 'walk out' (habitually), after you signed Contract.

When I finish my Contract, I always ask for the Recommendation letter (or Release letter), which (I think) will help me to get new job.

DanaHill:

Thank you. I have my paperwork, but my partner doesn't as hE had to hand it in when he stayed for tourist purposes after our contracts ended. So, it's ideal to have, but not essential?!

Thanks Again

if your residence permit / working permit ran out already then you dont need it. It might be just better to show that you didnt pull a midnight run or something

DanaHill:

Yes, it all ran out in November and we came home. My partner had to hand in the releaSe letter in order to travel on a tourist visa for a month.

Thanks for your help!

you need your previous company to cancel your work permit after you find new job then they will give you the receipt of work permit cancelation. then apply for the new work permit under the new company.

Apply for the resident permit under the new company.
