Q: Do most public hospitals not deal with after hour emergencies here?

A friend of mine broke a tooth on a late Sunday afternoon, and he had to go through 3 places before they finally told him they could take care of him. (first place told him no, go to place number 2, which then sent him to place 3).

This is Shanghai, btw...
Unbelievable.

If they have 24 hour IV services surely they should have emergency care.

Maybe the first two hospitals he went to did not care dental care in their facilities, not all hospitals do. But there are dental clinics that open from 9 or 10 am until 10 pm every day, and those can take care of a broken tooth also.
