Red_Fox:

You's a funny guy, icnif!

(Still can't pronounce your name. Sounds like an audio track played backwards - "backmasking" in the recording biz.)

Yawyna, pu sbmuht! I mean: thumbs up!

You can't make a song out of my name. Chinese (kids) can't pronounce it, either. They call me: 'nie shi laowai'. First time, I heard 'laowai' here, I replied: 'nie shi laowai!'. After laugh, kids adopted as my new Chinese name.

I know! Tall people (who when they look, they mostly look down......) find my 'truth' funny. Can you imagine, Yao Ming would 'look up' at somebody?

Dumpling was good. I ate (few) baozi stuffed with 'grounded sheep' today. We like sheep here in Xin.

Actually Vicky I think Chinese are one of the most racist groups I have ever met. Im a black person....would you date me? or would you say that sh~t...I only date white men?....I find many Chinese girls do this because they think the child will come out better looking.....But like I said I found mainland chinese to be the most racist.

she actually said already she only likes white men LOL

To follow on from icnif's comment: I'm a shortarse and I don't look down on anyone cool

To answer vicky's initial question: no. I'm sure *some* people do - but the same could be said for any major socio-ethnic grouping, surely.

Final point: vicky herself is the one touting the white-is-best line on some of her other threads - to the distaste of myself and, I'm sure, many other board members.

Most....no, some..... yes.

When I lived in China I made sure to treat all people equally. I thought even though I have a "more rounded" world outlook, because of my upbringing, I must never think that I am superior because I come from the west.

However sometimes it was a struggle....the lack of empathy, common sense & good manners made me think "well actually perhaps I / we are superior" and I hated myself for that.

Remember "Yue-Yue" in Foshan? One of the passer-bys when asked why they didn't help said "well...I don't know her"....really?...would that happen in the west.?.....at least 3 ppl would have been calling the emergency services.....so superior in that way. But that was an isolated incident. So I mustn't make sweeping statements...

Your comment about most Chinese ppl think themselves the best is interesting. China seems to have both an inferiority & superiority complex at the same time....it's very odd.

But seems to be part of the culture, witness the Qing Emperors' comment "we have no need of your ingenious inventions" to McCartney.....the correct answer should have been "Hmmmm....tell me more"

Many ppl say "we hate Japan"...but I do feel that they are secretly envious of Japanese society and success.

A:I'll give my two cents on the age part. It's not as easy but can definitely be done. I was 21, fresh out of university and landed my first teaching job in china as a homeroom kindergarten teacher on a pretty standard 20,000/month salary. I'm 1 year in now and am still happy. Pretty much all international kindergarten jobs on here want 2 years experience, but many will still accept if you have experience in your home country. With that being said, being white and having a nice looking face is much more of a decision factor in china vs the west, if you can- use it to your advantage. Good luck finding something! -- brinsleym
