You skimp on very short words like 'your' but you say passenger tricycle as opposed to trike.

Seniors at some point are not allowed to drive a car anymore and they buy a 3 wheeler to make some extra money to help with the paltry pension system. a closed glass trike for passengers with a motorcycle  is about 24000 rmb in Beijing.(much less other places)

They usually try to charge double the rate of a taxi and then negotiate down because they are not always guaranteed a return trip from a fare. They will always get someone at a crowded train station but maybe nobody to get back to the train station, hence the double fare.

As for using them, the seniors will drive slower, some times in bike lanes away from cars, sometimes not, perhaps safer in a real taxi with a liquid natural gas tank bomb in the trunk. The traffic is so bad and slow that when you hit, at least it is at low speeds but i stick to the buses. Retired means I don't care if I'm late.
