Q: Do people ever second-guess or question their doctors in China?

I know my mother does this all the time, driving doctors crazy, but in our mentality, it's our body, so it's our right to ask as many questions and make it clear when we doubt a doctor's opinion. They make mistakes too.

Just wondering if that's part of the culture here or whether the doctor in China has such a powerful, all-knowing aura people never question what treatments they're getting.

I would tend to think people don't question them. But I also don't think that is because they think doctors are all-knowing. I think its more because they don't really have a basic knowledge of medical science or anatomy/physiology. I didn't do any medical training except first aid, but I still picked up the basics along the way

I went to the doctor once here, and took what he said and researched it online myself to see if it was standard treatment. It was, so I went back. But a lot of people here just assume the doctor is right because they don't know what questions to ask.
