Q: Do self righteous teachers pis% you off
Some teachers i meet here teaching,are so self important saying I,I,I,Its not you the teacher i think,it should be the student or students talking,even if it is broken English sometimes,give the students a break they have a hard time here studying god knows what hours they spend at school.Whats your way of teaching?
Empower the students. It's a must...and they will take the bull by the horns in time.
and yes, self righteous teachers piss me off
there are many different styles to teaching depending on the personalities of the student and teacher also class size and let's not forget the material. any teacher that says there should just be 1 style (usually their style) is a moron so dont waste your time with them

I used to teach the first few years I came to China and I practiced the student centered type of learning. It's mostly effective to teens and adults.
Listening is also important the more the teacher talks the more the student can learn. Ever heard of input and output? The student needs to take in what the teacher says and then respond back to them.
Patience, patience, patience; it's absolutely vital in the classroom. Learning a new language is a daunting thing and it's hard work. It is really important to create a welcoming and comfortable environment, in which the learner feels comfortable using as much language as they possibly can.
The funny-white-monkey fixation here pisses me off because, aside from the racism (and the fact that I'm not especially funny), it puts an unreasonable emphasis on the teacher, when the focus of any class should be the learners, their progress, and their needs.
As far as my own teaching style goes, I try to apply what I've written above to my own classroom, and if I can have my young students happily using the target language for any given lesson, I'm happy!
It isn't so much the self-righteousness of some teachers, as all teachers' possess some degree of self-righteousness.
It's the self-important teachers (and other individuals) who are more determined to flaunt their own intelligence and turn off their students and other listeners by using vocabulary and sentence structure that would be easier accepted in a more concise form. I have found when they flaunt, their audience tunes out, especially in casual settings.
Personally, I don't care about self-righteousness. It is far less troublesome, say, than ignorance and obduracy. I try to follow the Chinese lead of practising humility and harmony in society.

I additionally find Chinese society more harmonious than, let's say, a certain percentage of malcontent foreigners who come to China with no other end but to upend things and create friction. Just my opinion of course. Malcontents at home, malcontents here.
