I'd always heard about the dust storms that cover Beijing in the springtime, but last spring there didn't seem to be a whole lot of sand/dust -- just the same ol' air pollution awesomeness. Does Beijing still get these springtime storms or is that a thing of the past? I heard something last year about the gov't planting hundreds of acres of trees outside the city to stop the storms. is that true?
Harbin had one last week. Glad I missed it.

I think he was making a comment, unlike some that give stupid answers to every question, and can't take a hint when every post they make gets thumbed down
Yes, it is true! You are gonna have to excuse the above he can't read well. I got a mask to protect myself against the sand/dust storms that come out during spring time. The pollution is bad enough but then you add that sandstorm and it's like hell. Kind of reminds me of Dubai a bit. They have been planting trees and although I was unaware they were doing it for the storms I knew they planted trees to cut down on the pollution...lol!
Well this place is off my bucket list.
