Q: Do they have detention centers for teenagers here?

Or any type of school where they send the bad kids at? Back home if you got into a really bad fight or you caused some trouble they would send you to massey hill the school for bad kids later it became reid ross a regular school.

I new of a 16yr old that killed another boy and went to Gaol never to be released

however it is an adult Gaol

(translation for the non English   English speakers Gaol means Jail)

Yes, they do have. I have seen photos of the operations, but have never visited one in person. Does not look pleasant.

Hi Phil

I thought "Goal" was a thing that footballers (or soccer players for you state side guys) scored when hitting the back of the net. "Gaol" might be a place you are referring to.

Yes, indeed there are reformatories and prisons for adolescents here and they are pretty hardened and awful places.  I once had the pleasure of being taken on a tour of one in Suzhou, of all places, as part of an "information briefing".  It could have come straight out of Charles Dickens and those that were incarcerated there might have come right out of Rikers Island as well.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
