i love to eat Sichuan foods.it is felicous. How about you?which Chiese food do you love?
I like some, some is too greasy, too boney. The little red peppers make me choke. Someone pointed out that foreigners don't like Chinese food and I had to explain why I'm not used to it. I kept complaining about the lack and quality of meat. I ordered Peking Duck as I felt like having meat one night. There was a picture in the menu. It arrived looking golden brown, head and all. I stuck my fork into the first piece and almost fell out of my chair laughing. It was just skin, no meat. So close but no cigar.
Victoria1987:
I ate a peking duck like that once in a 3 star hotel. The good chiese food usually are home cooked in local chinese family.I ate better food at home than eatting outside in some good resturant.I once spent 30rmb for one bowel of noodle, damn,a few noodle, just a liittle fish meat, after that I was still hungry, then go to a cheaper one to make myself full.resturants are making a lot of profits ,so usually most of them cook food from cheaper materials. Some are worser, they use very bad oil.Even when sometimes I have enough money to eat in nice resturants everyday,I prefer eatting at home.I am too concerned about my healthy.
snowballeffect:
I only eat it if it's been prepared with the finest grade of gutter oil.
Jnusb416:
Victoria's right, you should have tried more home cooking. There would be less oil and salt/msg.
TedDBayer:
I did cook often, hard to get good food to cook, my first fried chicken was as tough as a truck tire, who knew they have 5000 year old chickens?
Yes, but agree with Ted about the bones and sometimes the lack of meat on these bones.
I've noticed as well that it seems to be acceptable here to reheat food multiple times......call me pedantic but would it not be better to reheat sensible amounts of each dish as opposed to massive bowls of each dish of which you only eat 1/3, and then keep reheating the rest over and over until its finished.......
To make matters worse we went to a restaurant last week (a relatively upmarket one) sat down in front of a wall.....couple minutes later noticed that I'd been joined by a couple of cockroaches on the wall behind me. I really enjoyed my chinese food that night!
I am not a fan of the food here. There are a few dishes I like.
I have been to 15 countries or so, and China is placed at the bottom of the list.
snowballeffect:
Definetly the food can be very 1 dimensional, but in its defence there's quite a few dishes I like, so I'm still undecided.
I think in multi-cultural cities like London we have the best of all worlds.......most of the ingredients used in Chinese food can be bought there along with manymany other countries foods ingredients......choices!! maybe I just miss UK food, snacks and supermarkets!!!
not found much I like to eat here to be honest.....
Mexican or Thai for me... :-p
Not the "Chinese breakfast" nor anything Spicy (Sichuan, Hunan food etc.).
Cannot bring myself to eat dog.
However, I love Xinjiang food, I love Guilin Rice Noodles, Most of the noodles, fish, etc.
So, for the most part, yes I do indeed like Chinese food!
A fan of pretty much all of the food in China. Sichuan the top of the list but eat most restaurant or street food. Only rules. No dog or brain or similar. I do like other intestine offal dishes though and only buy if a reasonable crowd of locals are consuming.
One of the great joys of China.
