Q: Do you ever actually buy fireworks in China?

If so, how much do you spend on average?

Myself, I've never purchased them here, but I hear they're kind of expensive still.

Nah, for me I've never bought fireworks here. Too many people set off fireworks for me to add to the chaos that will last for another week or two. Plus, seeing that everybody here likes to set off fireworks and not clean up afterwards makes me not want to buy any fireworks or add to the cause any further.

No, never! I always go for free ride: 'I watch!' Every time I stop and watch, it looks like firework accident.

Exactly, why waste money of your own? Just stick your head out of the window...okay, just look out of the window; that way you won't risk getting your face blown off! If you really do get the urge to buy, buy those traditional long red ones, not the big boxes that have suspect fuses and you always see people leaning over to see if they've been lit properly!

I bought a big roll of firecrackers for 50Y. there was a bigger one for 100y. i didn't unroll it and it had only a short fuse. I never thought enough about that. When I lit it, it basically blew up in almost one big bang, in my face. I didn't get burnt, but it got me.

yeah i did, actually not that cheap. i read an article that the sellers earn good money on it. .. 30 kuai for 1000 firecracker, 200 kuai for a 25 shot firework. quality of both is just soso. if u want good quality i guess u need to spend some thousand kuai...

Every year I blow a hundred or two on fireworks.

It's fun, it goes "boom" and all that.

No, it is much less hassle just lighting the money on fire. (of course it does not go boom, which is a shame, why doesn't this great country, inventor of gunpowder, have explosive money?)

Hell yeah I do! Here's why; my first CNY sucked balls. Then on the second one I discovered if you join in, it's loads of fun and takes the curse off!
