Q: Do you ever buy magazines from street vendor stalls?
I see these stalls everywhere, often displaying 50 or 60 different magazines. But I don't ever see anyone buying them. Just the occasional person buying beverages. Is there a big market for magazines in China? Do you buy an magazines from these stalls regularly? Any good ones?
magazines ...hahahahah..... I have a subscription to National Geographic.....have had it off and on for a lot of years.............. since being in China (2 years) I have received one magazine.................. no idea where they go ............ NatGeo is great....they just keep extending my subscription........... mail in small town China is a little uncertain.
The market is probably shrinking. More people would opt for the electronic versions. I hardly see anyone reading a paper magazine or book on the subway. Most are using their phone to read. It's handy and saves more trees
I've bought several yes. The main reason for me buying was because they were giving a promotional give away like some playing cards or a bag. I usually get the 20 kuai mag'z that have free stuff to offer....
I sometimes indulge in a Grazia fashion mag. It always cost 5 kuai but was recently outraged when I saw that it went up to a whole 7 kuai! Might have to rethink buying the mag from now on...I only buy it for the fashion pictures anyway.
Some of them are useful for squatting flies on long train journies.
