Q: Do you ever feel the need to clean up BEFORE your ayi comes over to clean?

I know it's rather self defeating but many times I think our place is just too dirty (mostly because of my slob GF) and I'm embarrassed so I clean up first.

Anyone else do the same thing?

No, but I am always asked to make sure to do the dishes in advance as the wife does not want the ayi touching stuff like that.

I'm the 'ayi' in my apartment, but I do feel the need to separate my garbage into recyclables/non-recyclables before the grandmothers in my building go through my garbage, I clean up teachers' desks before the ayi at school comes to clean the teachers' office, clean up my table as best as possible before leaving a restaurant and always clean up my act before senior managment comes over to clean up the deritus.

Meh. Most young Chinese girls are complete slobs. I don't know why, but most that I've met were like that.

If I had Aiyi, with the previous girls I'd just commit suicide before allowing them to see anything.

My mother loves cleanliness.

She feels the need to clean up AFTER the ayi comes over, because of the low skills of the ayis we tried. And we've tried a lot.

Yeah, I'll do some.

I also do the washing up myself, because I'll use hot water and detergent...

But, I also don't like the skills of the ayis too much... but they can get my floor clean, and sometimes do the stuff I really don't want to.

thedude:

I completely agree...she does a great job in the bathroom and on the floors but does a crappy job on dishes.

I only used an ayi once and was pretty disappointed with the job she did, considering how much we paid her. I later learned that they are only as good as you tell them (and supervise them) to be. One of the most extreme cases I've heard is that a friend's ayi had to be instructed to use separate rags to clean the inside of the toilet and the sink/faucet etc. Gross....

As for your question, I've heard from friends that they'll partially clean before the ayi arrives, particularly dirty dishes in the kitchen and getting rid of excess amounts of beer bottles.
