I just saw the fashion faux pas post and this question came to my mind. Do you consider the clothing that your Chinese girlfriend or boyfriend wears to be more acceptable to a Western palate?
If yes, did they gradually change their dress after you started dating or did they dress "Western" before you met?
If no, does the way they dress bug you or have you come to accept it?
My wife dresses how the hell she wants but does ask if I like something and, more surprisingly, usually (not always) takes that advice.
Her dress sense is part of what attracted me to her, so if she was a thigh high stiletto heel mini-skirt above her butt, type dresser I doubt I would have spoken to her, (drooled a bit maybe but probably not spoken). That said when we lived in the UK she did dress a bit more conservatively, albeit that her jeans were usually baggy and her skirts knee length. Now she will wear short sweater dresses and leggings or skinny jeans, I put this down to the fact that she was probably a lot more self-conscious being a foreigner and so 'feeling' different.

Most people dress to suit their surroundings and society. She probably saw that micro-minis weren't as common among western women (non prostitutes, that is) and changed her dress accordingly (not implying that your girl likes to wear supers short skirts).
my wife finally knows not to buy black anything for me , i dont want to blend in and i dont care what people think and she has has starting wearing some color in the winter.
My dress style's the same before or after I met my husband as I wear all kinds of clothes as long as It suits me well, and I like to keep myself look stylish all the time lol
My husband likes my style ,never had a complaint lol
Nope. She manages just fine with her own fashion sense. I can provoke her into changing if I put on the same colors as she is wearing, and we are going to a social event. Wearing the same is a no no for her.

that's my Scottish outfit you are describing there !
I will dress like that, paint my face blue and then run around the streets yelling "FREEEEEEEDOM"
I coach her. I had to explain to her why those ankle high stockings with shorts are a horrible idea.
I tease her sometimes about what she wears. She's 25 but sometimes dresses like she's 12. For example, she has one sweater with a big rabbit making a face like this, but without the tears.
The teasing hasn't phased her fashion choices one bit. So I guess people probably still think I'm some kinda pedo freak when they see us out together. "What's that dude in his early 30's doing with a 12 year old?". She just doesn't care...which is one of the reasons I like her, haha. At least she doesn't wear any clothes with stupid, nonsensical english phrases.

Lol. I once saw a girl wearing a shirt that said, "I'm not easy, but we can discuss it!"
No, because my wife has a great sense of fashion. If anything, she has kind of "up graded" my own fashion look. I've always been content to wear jeans and collared pull-over shirts (like Polo), but she explained that if I dress too shabby, people might think that she doesn't take care of me, so in deference to that, I tend to let her pick out my own taste in clothing, lol.
So far, she has done very well.
