There is a website at http://www.foshan.gov.cn/english/ made by their city government, it is in English, looking at it may be helpful to you in your quest for knowledge.

Foshan is a relatively wealthy suburb of  Guangzhou, connected to Guangzhou by subway and by bus.  The subway does not serve all of Foshan but only part of it. There is a Walmart located in Foshan and when it opened, it was the object of rather serious contention.

The hospitals in Foshan are of generally good quality and I have a good friend who is the chief cardiologist at the local military hospital.

I worry though that if you will be teaching in Foshan, if that is what you are going to do, whether or not you will be in Foshan or whether you will at many of the universities / colleges such as South China Normal, Neusoft, etc., etc, that are located technically in Foshan but actually outside of the city in a very remote area.  Bus service is quite sporadic out there and taxis are almost non-existant.

Foshan offers all the amenities of Guangzhou life and it's been like the Panyu section of Guangzhou in that it is decidedly more upscale than Guangzhou itself.

If you will be living and working in Foshan proper, you will have a good time and that is based upon my years in Guangzhou with a good number of friends in Foshan.

And if you live within easy walking distance to the subway line, you will have very easy ingress / egress to Guangzhou from about 06h00 until about 22h30.
