Hong Kong, ten dollars a night. These words do not belong in the same sentence.

For HK$10 I suggest you look for a cardboard box (*not a metaphor) in a back alley in Mong Kok....you may have to share the box with a few rats and a homeless guy (or two). But that's all part of the experience, right?

Make sightseeing tour of Mong Kok, however I'm not sure if you'll find hostel for that price.

US$22 is the cheapest price for 1 night on the web link:

I am a Fortune Teller ~  I see in your future Chungking Mansion!  it's a wonderfully lively firetrap in TST, Kowloon, 44 Nathan Road. There are about 80 low-cost hostels in there. If u want to be different, u can head over to their neighbor/competitor Mirador Mansions.

btw:  There is a big difference between 10hkd and 10usd. and neither will get u a bunk in HK overnight, just 10hkd will get it even less.  surprise

Last time I went to HK I stayed in the cheapest room I could book online that had its own bathroom and ended up paying about 65usd a night for a tiny clean room off Nathan Road in Mongkok. You can find some sleazy hourly hotels in Mong Kok that will cost you about 25 bucks a night but 10.... geez even in mainland China I wouldn't want to stay anywhere that cheap.

The cheapest stay in Hong Kong is at any of the hostels in Chungking Mansions, but it's a gritty dark place with brothels, illegal immigrants and drug dealers.

For a few more dollars you can stay at any of the YesInn, they are clean and joyful places, much safer than Chungking Mansions.

You are not stupid enough to go to Hong Kong while counting each penny right?

Yes...easy...the Guangdong Wharney in Wan Chai is about $200 USD a night.

What you need to do is find some drunk old guy and offer some services for $190.00...don't worry...shortly after the visit to the hotel room he will pass out...before you will have to partake in anything comprimising...take that money to use it towards the hotel....and bam....your hotel is $10 for the night.wink

Or you could avoid HK if you are so broke that all you can afford is $10 a night.....seriously.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
